Deliver them From Evil

(Baltimore, MD) It is seven PM, and already a group of homeless men and women are beginning to gather around the front of 4 South Gay Street in Baltimore. The doors will open in just a few minutes. Then these and others will find refuge from the cold wicked streets of Baltimore inside the walls of Grace & Hope Mission.
Mamie E. Caskie and Jennie E. Goranflo planned it that way more than 93 years ago. These women of faith left Cleveland, OH in 1914 with the blessing of the Gospel Workers Society to reach the sinful souls lost and living on the streets of Baltimore.
Today men and women still come to the missions doors addicted to - alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroin, pornography, and sex. They are homeless, hungry, and hurting. These men have come for Grace (a meal in sack) and they receive Hope (a message of deliverance and salvation). All this takes place just around the corner from the more than 42 strip joints, peepshows, live sex shows, adult bookstores and sex shops that are Baltimore's world renowned "Block." Imagine all this sin sitting in the shadow of city hall and the Central Police Station.
It has been my privilege to bring the message of Hope at Grace & Hope on a monthly basis for more than five years now. Preaching a Jesus who is the same same yesterday, today and forever has permitted us to bring deliverance and the love of Christ in the Power of the Spirit to the demon possessed and drug addicted.
